| The Endless Range | [ Sizes: Orig | Med | Small | Thumb ] |
In the case of this particular image I feel it's best to show the photograph much larger than the maximum uncompressed resolution of about 560 pixels (long side) on this website. Therefore, you must click on the photo to see the Larger version to appreciate the fine details that make this photograph work. Otherwise, you get some compression damage to the image. This vast expanse was captured from my campsite at over 9000 feet on Washington's Mount Rainier, Ptarmigan Ridge, looking towards the North Cascade range at sunset. The 'Larger' version (975 pixels) really puts you there! Thanks for commenting.

Hasn't voted | My dreams of climbing Rainier have just been solidified by this picture. Fantastic photo, sights like this are why I hike and climb. Thanks for the larger version, it truly brings out the expansiveness of the mountains. | | Posted Aug 13, 2007 10:54 am |

Voted 10/10 | kind of in the mold of this view - just how far, how big are these chains of mountains out on the horizon? | | Posted Aug 26, 2007 5:14 pm |

Hasn't voted | The highest peak prominant in the distant ranges shown here is Glacier Peak (10,300ft) roughly 120 miles North. The other peaks are 6000-9000 feet above the valleys which are close to sea level. | | Posted Aug 26, 2007 5:30 pm |

| MarcAdamusLIES | One of his only decent film images | | Hasn't voted | Notice the boastful manner in which Marc describes it all. It's as if getting to 9000 feet is an epic accomplishment. Of course, Marc is no mountaineer & has no place on Summitpost.
