Stefan begins the steep face descent of Chaval. With only two pickets, no other pro, and a 30m rope between three of us, it simply wasn't feasible to rappel. This belay was nothing more than Greg and I counterweighting him on the other side of a snowbank. An unanchored fall here would have quickly slid to a cliff band below. Photo taken May 26, 2003.
