Afternoon vista of the starfish shaped Traveler June 1978. My son's first visit to the Matagamon entrance of Baxter Park at age 2.

I remember coming into this entrance at age 7.

I was in Maine at the end of June. I almost blew my brains out on that highway out of Boston. When I got into Maine, the traffic basically came to a standstill around some construction. I can't believe I had to pay a toll!

The countryside was nice but you certainly couldn't be in any hurry. People drive SLOW on those country roads.

Ayuh. But its not as bad as here in Ohio where we get somebody with a giant corn machine out on the highway. Hope you had a good time up there.

It was very nice. I didn't have time to do any climbing because I wanted to drive and look at scenery as much as I could. I was able to drive all of the New England states in 4 days. My favorite place was Vermont. Even the interstates were nice. I only got to see the southern part of Maine, then drove into the White Mountains and drove past Mt. Washington.
