Re: Family mountaineering

Yes, and we were in a great shape! It was a funny story. At Segantini hut we decided to go around, via Passo Quatro Cantoni. Then, on the summit ridge we couldn't find the descent into a ravine before reaching the bivouac, so a guide with his client turned us back, when we were already descending (to go around by the south face again). We climbed that part and surpassed the guide and his client, but we stayed on top far longer as they did. So, when leaving, they said good-bye and went by the shortest route down. Later we descended by the south slope and over Passo Quattro Cantoni (around) again, and came to Segantini hut again before them. You should see their eyes! They didn't know where were we moving, because they went by the shortest route. But it was already our third mountaineering day, so we were fit like a hell.

great

Makes me recall time when I (and my two sisters) also climbed with our parents. For children it is perhaps the best memories ever.

All the best to you

Where to go for some snow?

I have been looking the web for the most "ideal" place to walk on some snow in August in the Alps of Italy. I am traveling from Paris by car and would just like to enjoy the snow on the slop or flat area since I am not a skier. I am willing to take a nice ride on the cable or train as well.

Please help. Thank you.

Re: Where to go for some snow?

Hey, welcome to SummitPost! It's hard to give you an advice, because I don't know how experienced you are. Snow in summer means in Alps glaciers, where you never know if a crevasse is not below your feet. But some glaciers are quite harmless. Wh not going somewhere in Ortles group (from the south) or Gran Paradiso group (the highest summit is high, but not very hard). Or above Cervinia - Breithorn. But you'd need a rope and some skills for all that.
