Kit Carson & The Prow [ Sizes: Orig | Large | Med | Small | Thumb ]
Kit Carson & The Prow
A climber stands in the tiny saddle between the summit tower of Kit Carson and the terminus of the Prow, a great towering fin of rock that is the southwest corner of the great mountain (and a revered technical route as well, which can also continue to the summit). The unique Kit Carson Avenue, a ten foot wide ledge that circumvents the 900 foot cliffs on the mountain's west and south faces allows sturdy hikers to climb the mountain via the west ridge and Challenger Peak. This photo was taken from near the summit of Challenger, looking roughly south across Kit Carson's dramatic west face.
