Voted 10/10 | Does the cross still stand on the summit of Slavkovsky stit? It was built without permission... I plan to go there in october and will be pleased in case cross still is there. Cheers Tomas ;) | | Posted Sep 17, 2007 1:47 pm |

Yes,it is photo from last Sunday (16.09)
There was about 40-50 cm of snow in the last 100 meters before summit and the cross is still there.
Cheers

Voted 10/10 | There is also a CROSS on top of Kamperwand in Germany. What does it mean - a symbol of PEACE? Congratulations & salutations. Cheers!

Hasn't voted | Our European culture becomes from Christianity and cross is the most important symbol. That is why you can find a cross on most of European summits-in Alps,Tatra and other smaller ranges..People had been putting crosses in the past in order to mark their presence.Nowadays..hm,I think that cross on the summit is close to God,it is also a symbol of resurection and salvation.Perhaps people want to crown their victory on their weakness by putting a cross on the top of mountains..This is my own point of view
cheers
