Wirtz Basin Pica
Caught this little one out of his hiding place in the Wirtz Basin which is part of the route to Sperry Peak and Vesper Peak. There sure are a lot of them in that area. Pica's are "tailess hares" and are just slightly larger than mice. Photographed September 23, 2007.

Yeah, there was quite a few. We stopped and held still for awhile and then they started to come out more.
