Bristlecone Pine on Wheeler Peak, NV [ Sizes: Orig | Large | Med | Small | Thumb ]
Bristlecone Pine on Wheeler Peak, NV

This is a close-up view of one of the older looking bristlecone pines (Pinus longaevaon) along the hike to the glacier in Great Basin National Park, NV. It wasn't too far from here (think hundreds of yards, not miles) that the oldest living non-clonal organism ever found was cut down. This tree is likely several thousands of years old. Imaged in August 2007.
