Dog

I'll give you 4 stars for the dog picture. Most people don't seem to like the dog photos.

Re: Dog

Me too. How do the dogs interact with the marmots?

Re: Dog

No most people seem to disslike dog photos... or perhaps it is the implication that if a mountain can be climbed by dogs it isn't a real climb. Whatever the case I just like the mountains. When I took these photos I knew nothing about SP... I just wanted photos of my dogs on our mountains. Now that I am posting mountains I find that some of my best photos happen to have dogs in them... Oh well. If nothing else I find the dogs do give that ellusive sense of perpective that many mountain photos lack. Thank you for the high vote.

Dogs and Marmots...

I have spent a lot of time beating the "leave-it" command into Sopris and Raymonds little heads... right now they are pretty well behaved. Sopris had a run in with a marmot when she was a year old. She stuck her head into a marmot hole and came out with a nasty notch in her lip... she has been much better around them since. Truely my most intimate wildlife encounters have happened when I have been with my dogs. On memorable event was a herd of bighorn sheep following us down from the Iron Nipple-Mount Lindsey saddle... The dogs were leashed but the sheep seemed downright curious. There is a photo I posted on the Mount Lindsey page of these sheep. Another event happened on Grand Traverse Peak in the Gores. Descending from the summit we came across a herd of mountain goats. I sat down with Sopris... while I was whispering for her to be calm one goat approached to within 5 feet of us. I thought Sopris and him would sniff noses. Unfortunately my camera battery was dead in that instance. Obviously I don't have a problem with dogs... trouble dogs are ussualy the fault of the owner.
