One may encounter this when visiting the extreme southern portion of the GRAND STAIRCASE-ESCALANTE National Monument in southern UTAH. Located approximately 9 miles east of 7,271' MOLLIES NIPPLE, this is the typical type of rock in this area. I wouldn't recommend anybody climbing on this 5,406' high butte, aptly named GINGHAM SKIRTS BUTTE. I INCLUDED it just to show you the brillant COLOURS of God's paintbrush.
Little did I know that this humble red butte in southern Utah would be the
start of something BIG, the (so-called)
"Red But(te) Green Thread?"

we climb it when we can see it through
the monitor's screen on SP? I don't want
the world to become lazy! Just because we
have technology at our fingertips doesn't

sub-standard vote, and I removed a date that
was stuck to the picture.
Actually, I need to return to this landmark,
and take a few more shots from different
angles and dimensions.
The REASON a person would have a difficult
time (climbing it) is because it contains
a special kind of "blue clay" that makes it
slippery and very hazardous to whoever

Over the past 40+ yrs. I've spent on mountains and in deserts, the only RACE I was ever worried about was the "Rat Race."

Sometimes, steam comes out of my ears from my
