with the last star still shining up above. View from the lower reaches of Akcheryakol Lava Flow. The route continues up the flow, then traversing left and up near the three rock outcropping clearly visible above the rim of the East Crater. The relatively short traverse is the crux section because of patches of water ice below the rocks, and extreme exposure. Photo taken in August 1986 on our summit push. Comments |
