Emerging onto the airy... [ Sizes: Orig | Med | Small | Thumb ]
Emerging onto the airy...
Emerging onto the airy northeast ridge of Engineer Mountain, this is the spectacular view looking due south over Highway 550, bound for Durango. The former Purgatory ski area is right of center, and Electra Lake is left of center. The triangular east face of Engineer is incredibly steep and loose and gives the appearance of teetering on the verge of collapse. Stay on or near the ridge top to avoid rockfall incidents and expect varying degrees of exposure.
