I didn't go to Keg Pass, electing to turn off and try my luck on a road shown on the topozone map. One report I saw mentioned that the guy who wrote it had hiked to the peak from Keg Pass and he said it was nasty.
Just about any route can get you up a desert peak that doesn't defend itself with cliffs but I ended up happy with the route I chose.
