Carderock-- Chockstone Chimney (5.3) [ Sizes: Orig | Large | Med | Small | Thumb ]
Carderock-- Chockstone Chimney (5.3)
This route supposedly is rarely climbed. Although the final section may actually be 5.3, the rest is really a short Class 4 move and some walking up to the crux, or at least that's how it felt. The crux is pulling around the chockstone, which I did by stemming to get into the best position and then relying mostly on the arms for the finish. Easy to do unroped if you're used to 5.0-5.4 without the rope, and probably not interesting or challenging enough to do on a rope, anyway. Still, it's a fun little "scramble."
