Lions in Nogorongoro Crater [ Sizes: Orig | Large | Med | Small | Thumb ]
Lions in Nogorongoro Crater
Caught these lions mating in the Ngorongoro Crater in February 2007. When they mate they seem oblivious to the rest of the world. They will mate 200+ times in a week.

200+ times a week! A tenth of that is pushing the limits (for me, at least).

of a picture. What an amazing shot and unless you were using a telephoto lens, it seems like you are right in the middle of the "action".

The shot was taken with a telephoto lens. I was using a 70-300 zoom. I don't remember how much I had it zoomed but we were plenty close enough to hear the male growling when I took the shot.

It probably depends on which book you read or which NG show you watch on TV. From local reports at the Ngorongoro park these two mated for 8 days!

If this was a pic of mating llamas, we'd have another Photo of the Week :D
You should attach it to the Cats album
