Zeskhura River, source of Jason's Golden Fleece [ Sizes: Orig | Large | Med | Small | Thumb ]
Zeskhura River, source of Jason's Golden Fleece
Zeskhura, with its traces of alluvial gold, is the principal source of Tskhenis-Tskali River ( Georgian for Horse-Water ) which is commonly identified with Horse River of the Land of Colchis. The Horse River ( Hippus in Greek ) was considered by the geographers of antiquity ( such as Strabo and Plinius ) to be the gold-bearing source of River Phasis, of Golden Fleece fame.
