Climbing " Drambuie Demon" just outside of Jasper National Park - just as it's getting light (we climbed 3 pitches of ice, and 5 pitches of rock that day - something you can do in the spring time in the Rockies).

Hasn't voted | If you get a copy of the Guidebook for ice climbing in the Canadian Rockies, this climb is in the book. It's called Drambuie Demon - it's grade 3 or 4 depending on the line you take. It's right across from the Overlander Lodge, which is just outside the East gates to Jasper (via Highway 16). It easily visible from the Highway and is about a 30-45 minute approach. Living in Hinton, you can climb it and be back before 10:30. It also forms early and is in the shade all the time - it usually doesn't totally fall down until June. | | Posted Nov 7, 2007 8:39 pm |
