Allen Mountain, North Face [ Sizes: Orig | Large | Med | Small | Thumb ]
Allen Mountain, North Face
Once on the gentle ridge top, climb to the base of the cliffs. Note the crack, known as the Great Break, in the cliff face just to the right. When the ridge rises in earnest, contour west out onto the north face on rubble covered ledges and position yourself beneath the Great Break. Climb directly up the ledges to a wide, sloped ledge, take it eastward to the ridge crest and around to the southeast side for 100 feet, then another ledge leads back west out to the base of the Great Break. Enter the crack and follow it to the ridge crest. 2006 GMS outing, Glacier National Park.
