Near the very top of...
Near the very top of Gaudineer Knob. The summit is almost completely clothed in old growth red spruce. (A Forest Service ranger told me it's a virgin forest.) One of the last remaining anywhere. This was in October 2003, and a three-inch snowfall had occurred during the night before we drove up. A very pleasant surprise, for down at Seneca State Forest, there wasn't a hint of snow.
