View from Maddron Bald [ Sizes: Orig | Large | Med | Small | Thumb ]
View from Maddron Bald
This is about a 180-degree view from the top of Maddron Bald in the Smokies. The view is mostly from the south (left) to southwest; the northern side not shown here is overgrown. The "bald" is no longer very bald because the locals haven't been able to graze livestock up here since it became a national park.

Photo taken in mid-November 2007, after the fall colors had peaked at the park's high elevations (5000-6500 feet).

Thanks! The Smokies aren't as gorgeous as the Olympics, but they do share a high level of moisture. :)
