This is an important sign at 4.9 miles from the Briggs Creek Trailhead. Left takes you down about 1,000 ft to the Illinois River before ascending back up to Bald Mountain. Right also takes you to Bald Mountain but it is about 1.4 miles longer and without the 1,000 ft drop in elevation. You can go one way and come back the other to complete a loop. 3 November 2007
