Looking along the upper NE...
Looking along the upper NE Ridge of Kyes Peak on Sept. 22, 2001. The summit is at left; Monte Cristo Peak is at right. There is an especially difficult (steep and loose) class 4 traverse into the notch at bottom-center. We belayed it on the way back after turning around at the top of the next knoll (we surmised we would need crampons on the glacier above...but we hadn't brought crampons).
