1100m over BC
Jeff has just reached the summit ridge. He's 1100m over BC at 6200m. Great views of the whole western part of the Dahongliutan Range.

are those surging? Its sweet to see glaciers toungue out into non-snowy terrian like that. I've only seen it in the book GLACIER ICE. Nice pic. And nice job climbing such random (?) places

It's a very dry area and very little precipitation. It's common that the glaciers end in non-snowy terrain. Sometimes you can see huge ice towers quite a way away from the actual end of the glacier.

You got me :-)
Many times it's very random. When traveling on a bicycle with all the necessary gear on the back rack you can choose peaks according to what you feel like climbing. I usually make a plan for the peaks I'd like to climb, but many times it changes when in the area.
You see a nice peak - you go for it.
