Thank you very much for your positive comments. When most people think of Smith they picture the crowds first and foremost. Those are there definitely but the park does have its share of secluded (though wouldn't call them "backcountry") scenic spots. Kind of a nice place to wait out the winter months (it was sunny, windless and about mid-50's there last weekend!!!!).
Your recent "work" on SP (I think we'd both agree that "work" on SP is more like "fun") also inspired us to look to NE Washington next summer.
