View up to Porta Suelo
Porta Suelo is the broad col at the top of the valley from El Salto, linking Cerro Plata to the other high peaks of the Cordón, Vallesitos and Rincón.

The normal route to both El Plata and Vallecitos heads direct up the moraine ramp in foreground to the broad, angled ridge in shadow, left, up to the low pass in the sunshine at upper left. From there, this walking route winds up the slender greyish ridge, below the bright snowfield upper left, reaching Porta Suelo about halfway across, immediately below all that can be seen of the main Plata Massif at top. The route to Plata takes off uphill directly from there, while the normal route to Vallecitos continues along the col, right.

Taken from above El Salto (December 2007).
