It's interesting how we commonly use a term like "barren landscape" when referring to the St. Helens devastation zone, but not too often in reference to desert peaks. It must have to do with the contrast between this terrain before and after the eruption, or between this and the surrounding lush green world. Nice pix! -Bob

The volcano looks very stark and destroyed in contrast to the surrounding landscape. Nice contrast!
