Lake Serene and the gigantic...
Lake Serene and the gigantic East Faces (or ENE Faces) of the North Norwegian Buttress, Middle Peak, and North Peak in May 1993. These faces are some of the steepest in the Cascades: ~2,000 ft of drop in 1/10th of a horizontal mile (according to Stephen Fry, this is tied with the NNE Face of Mt. Baring for #2 in all of the Cascades; #1 being the 2,150-ft West Face of the Middle and North peaks. For reference, the Middle Peak's elevation is 5,357 ft and Lake Serene's elevation is 2,520 ft.
