Maasai Shepherds [ Sizes: Orig | Large | Med | Small | Thumb ]
Maasai Shepherds
Traditionally, Maasai boys become shepherds at the age of 5. The sticks these boys carry are used to guide the cattle. Photographed in Ilkurot, a small village located on the lower North West slopes of Mount Meru, December 14, 2007.

It seems Maasai children are expected to grow up fast. At the age of 14, the boys become warriors. I think a couple of the kids in this photo are older than 5.
