for the great amount of snowfall on
Ben Lomond is a combination of its
northern position in the range and its
proximity to the Great Salt Lake, where
the storms pick up steam in a term known
to meteorologists as the "lake effect."

	Hasn't voted	I’m well aware of why Ben Lomond has so much snow. I see it every day :) The “lake effect” definitely helps the Wasatch Mountains receive large amounts of snow in winter. Yes, this Ben Lomond was named after the one in Scotland.

	Hasn't voted	Thank you. Comments are always nice because nobody already knows everything :) This winter isn’t miserable. We've had so many years of drought that it's good to have a lot of snow for a change. Skiing in June...I think Mockba would ski all year if he could!
