Ben Lomond in the Northern Wasatch Mountains seen from the southwest in winter

Voted 10/10 | for the great amount of snowfall on
Ben Lomond is a combination of its
northern position in the range and its
proximity to the Great Salt Lake, where
the storms pick up steam in a term known
to meteorologists as the "lake effect."

Hasn't voted | I’m well aware of why Ben Lomond has so much snow. I see it every day :) The “lake effect” definitely helps the Wasatch Mountains receive large amounts of snow in winter. Yes, this Ben Lomond was named after the one in Scotland. | | Posted Feb 26, 2008 8:25 pm |

Hasn't voted | Thank you. Comments are always nice because nobody already knows everything :)
This winter isn’t miserable. We've had so many years of drought that it's good to have a lot of snow for a change. Skiing in June...I think Mockba would ski all year if he could! | | Posted Feb 27, 2008 2:51 am |
