The "Via Concreta" on Taum Sauk Mountain [ Sizes: Orig | Large | Med | Small | Thumb ]
The "Via Concreta" on Taum Sauk Mountain
This is the final approach to the Rooftop of Missouri, Taum Sauk Mountain. The Via Concreta was put in place for climbers who might feel uncomfortable with the limited protection available on an unimproved route.

Instead of taking a direct route to the summit, the Via Concreta follows the lay of the land, reducing the effort required to reach the summit.

With the help of more experienced climbers who can assist them in the proper use of their stroller, even small infants of moderate fitness levels should be able to ascend Taum Sauk Mountain by using the Via Concreta route.

Imaged January 2008, winter ascent.

I think it fair to say that anyone who uses supplemental oxygen for (non-mountaineering) health reasons would nonetheless be able to get themselves up the Via Concreta.

Taum Sauk Mountain is very respectful of people of varying fitness levels.
