jimeganRe: Nice glacier shot...

Hasn't voted

I don't have the exact date, but about 8 years ago. The glacier is huge and in late August, 2000 when I crossed it, it looked like this. Don't think much has changed

FlatheadJimAbove the ice wall -- danger

Voted 9/10

As you climb the rock wall around the schrund you come out on this piece of real estate. If it has snow on it, you get good purchase. If no snow, it is off camber, steep ice with lots of exposure underneath and should be protected, esp on the descent.

Take at least 2 screws per person if you climb this thing late season.
