Alcohol on 5600m [ Sizes: Orig | Med | Small | Thumb ]
Alcohol on 5600m
On the rocky summit of Mindruk Tsari, 5604m. Looking north and at the three bottles with 40% hard liquor. The bottle to the right was empty. The other two were full. So, someone had had a little party up there I guess. Must've been a dangerous way down the boulders to the valley 700m below.
Leaving some candy or snacks on a summit is common in some parts of the world, but leaving hard liquor - first time I've seen that. Arriving at a summit with drinking Tibetans - yes. Leaving alcohol behind - no.

The day you arrive in Lhasa you'll have some surprises I think. Tibetans do drink and I must say many of them can't handle it very well. Many times drinking sessions end in fighting. One of the things that really left me with a dropping jaw was the first time I saw Buddhist monks in an internet cafe, playing Counterstrike and all the other "kill-as-much-as-can" games.
