The Hirtsfels over Hirschthal

The Hirtsfels over Hirschthal

HIRTSFELS : This is certainly, one of my favourite rocks, in all the Palatinate sector ! A great success, because the site is excellently good preserved, wild and isolated ! Be cautious, if you will coming here : the reason is, that the peregrine falcon is breeding and nesting here, in the period which is situated between begin february and end july (maximal) ! So, it means that the Hirtsfels is closed to the public, for all this period (hikers and climbers are rebuted from the rock, with a STOP shield ! ). This is very enerving and stressing, but it's true : for protecting this too much menaced bird, the german forestians have so decided, to forbidden the access at the site, when the peregrines are breeding and nesting on the crag ! During six long months, is so the Hirtsfels (and too much others in the country ! ), totally forbidden and closed to the public ... To know absolutely, before of coming here and staying with doing nothing, when you are one time arriving at the base of the cliff ... In the free access period, is the Hirtsfels too and too agreable, quiet, especially at his summit : from thereover, you will have a magical panorama, directly on the ruin of the Fleckenstein (an imposant and very famous castel, already located in France ... ). If you want to have peace and liberty, come here to the Hirtsfels : the site is equiped with several technical and difficult climbing voices (degrees standing between 2 and 8). In conclusion : a very huge success !!!
