Overview
Silver Peak is in the Shadow Mountains in the western Mojave Desert. It has amazing views of the area. Silver Peak caps off the eastern end of the range crest. Another fun aspect of this peak is the local geology, the peak itself is a mixture of limestone and other rock. Shadow Mountain is a good peak to combine with an ascent of Silver Peak.Getting ThereTake any freeway you need to connect with the Interstate 15 through the Inland Empire. Take I-15 north through Cajon Pass and take the Highway 395 from the junction. Take the 395 passing the town of Adelanto and continuing for about another ten miles to the the junction with the unpaved Shadow Mountain Road. Continue to the next dirt road on the left then to the next on left called Princess Pat Mine Road. Take this well maintained road for about 4 miles until you see a road on the left heading up to a old mining area just below the north face of Silver Peak. Park at the mine.
Route
From the mine take open limestone ridges and gullies to the base of the peak. I went up the ridgeline to the false peak just to the right of Silver. Gain that peak and head over along the range crest to the top of Silver.
