| The Cliffs of Red Cathedral | [ Sizes: Orig | Large | Med | Small | Thumb ] |
Seen from the saddle between Red Cathedral and Manly Beacon. Red Cathedral is NOT climbable from here; the rock is too unstable for protective gear, and the cliffs are too steep for all but the best and/or craziest free soloists. Better idea: take the hiking route and live to climb another day.

Voted 10/10 | By explaning the difficulty
of the climb, people will
want to examine it themselves.
When they drive all the way
out here, they'll discover it
is not climbable from HERE.
That makes you the messenger,
and nobody wants to shoot the
messenger. You come out clean,
and the people who came out
to DV end up taking the trail!
Very good, Bob! I like it!!

Hasn't voted | I just hope they don't get pissed at me for leading them here only to find they can't climb it and have to do all that backtracking! | | Posted Apr 18, 2008 11:05 am |

Voted 10/10 | You can please SOME of the people some of the
time. There's always going to be people
playing the age-old blame game. It's always
worth it to do some "exploritory" driving, or
perhaps invest in a guidebook or hiking book.
Planning would be the key, especially with
the price of gasoline the way it is. Good
luck with your future trips; hope you can
find a satisfying place to recreate in the
mountains or wilderness. It's there for all
of us to enjoy. Take care, Bob. - Larry | | Posted Apr 18, 2008 12:20 pm |
