The Gorge of Despair viewed from the summit of Tehipite Dome [ Sizes: Orig | Med | Small | Thumb ]
The Gorge of Despair viewed from the summit of Tehipite Dome
This rare old picture, looking south across the Middle Fork of the Kings River and directly into The Gorge of Despair, was taken by Herb Laeger from the top of Tehipite Dome. In order, up the left (east) side are Frustration Turret, El Corporale and El Commandante Turrets, The Cobra and Crystal Turret. On the right is The Silver Turret with it's North Buttress prominent. Tenderfoot peak (top left) and a northern flank of Mount Harrington called the Python preside from above. Uphill of the Silver Turret is the Fang.
