Harvester of Spring! [ Sizes: Orig | Large | Med | Small | Thumb ]
Harvester of Spring!
I found this on a recent scrambling/bouldering
trip east of Payson. It was growing beside a road,
on the south side of a rocky hill at 5,000' in elevation. It is a common variety of Arizona paintbrush, and it signals to me the true beginning of Spring.

Doesn't it look like somebody took a brush loaded with
fresh red-orange paint, and painted it??? It wasn't me!
I'm only the photographer. (May 5, 2008)

Please click for better resolution, and you'll see
how the petals grow along the top 3/4 of the plant's
stem, which is typical of Indian Paintbrush.

...nice photo, Larry. It looks a bit different than our variety here in Southern California, but equally beautiful. Thanks.

Actually, I turned up the satuation a bit
on the photo editor. It is really more
orange than red! Just the same. THANKS,
Guido!

A lot of my tight flower shots are turning
out blurred & out of focus. Think I need
an Olympus with the 10x zoom and macro-
adjustment. Working on getting a new camera.
Thanks for your kind comments and votes!!

Thanks for the find words! I normally don't
see them below 1,500 meters, but the desert
had a very wet winter this year. Take care!
