If you want to get to the true summit of S Chalone - and this is for peak baggers only, there's no view - there's a cairn by the route at N 36° 26.206 and W 121° 11.071 that marks the way up. It's 5 minutes of very easy bushwhack up sand and though light chaparral from here almost due west to the very uninspiring summit cairn at N 36° 26.204 and W 121° 11.146.
