Southwest Virginia [ Sizes: Orig | Large | Med | Small | Thumb ]
Southwest Virginia
This is the Cumberland Plateau area of southwestern Virginia, near to Black Mountain, Kentucky's highest point. I was on my way to the top of Black Mountain and missed my exit off the highway and ended up at this scenic vista. I couldn't believe the beauty of the the valley with mountains surrounding it, and the green of spring that was prevalent everywhere.

Some of the most beautiful Appalachian scenery is in Virginia.

Virginia does have a lot of mountains, considering it contains 1/4 of the AT. I have really only been to Shenandoah NP and the Mt Rogers area, but they are both beautiful areas. I hope to explore more of VA in the future.
