The unicorn steinbock

On the SW ridge of Monte Lavara / Golz / Javor this old steinbock lives. Who knows how he lost his right horn, but it must be hard to maintain balance, climbing over these steep walls with only one horn. June 21st, 2008. Foto: Jasmina Pogačnik.

It seems likely, that he had lost his right horn during the fights preceding their mating activities. These fights are very wild and cruel, resulting frequently in the death of weaker participant.
Thanks for sharing, even for the other beautiful shots from Lavara.
