Voted 10/10 | I'm still waiting for a photograph taken of
you ... are those your footprints in the snow
down there? Hey, that's a start! Great photo!!
Please - it won't hurt to post a recent photo
of you with a mountain in the background. :)
I beg of you ... just one little picture??

Hasn't voted | Thanks! It has a lot to do with my quiet personality. There are a lot of photographs of me taken in the mountains but I’m not going to post them. Yes, those are my footprints :) | | Posted Jun 30, 2008 9:32 pm |

Voted 10/10 | Well, nobody's perfect. Melinda -
congratulations on 'photo-of-the-day!' This
photo has a very mysterious quality to it!! :)
Probably has something to do with the
footprints! :)) ~Awesome~ 10/10! | | Posted Jul 1, 2008 11:12 am |

Voted 10/10 | Larry's begging, not bad MG :) Maybe you could post "a little picture" for him ... say 50 pixels across, huh? Maybe even 75? Will it do the trick, LC ? :)
Jokes aside, there is a certain point in it ... because the pictures of mountaineers in the mountains can inspire ... not to mention that raven-wing black contrasts with so many different background colors in such a beautiful way. | | Posted Jul 1, 2008 2:21 pm |

Voted 10/10 | Yes, I agree that you are correct, Dmitry.
But, who am I?? I'm just a humble figure of
a human being stumbling over snakes and trying
not to step on cactus here in AZ! :))) | | Posted Jul 1, 2008 2:50 pm |

Hasn't voted | I didn’t mean to start a big discussion. The purpose of this photo is to show the standard route to Mount Magog. I like seeing photos of mountaineers and climbers. I probably won’t be posting too many photos of myself. Sorry, I guess I’m odd :) | | Posted Jul 1, 2008 2:51 pm |

I, too, am a shy and retiring type. | | Posted Jul 1, 2008 1:10 pm |

Hasn't voted | Utah must have the largest number of mountains with biblical and religious names. Where there is a Magog there will be a Gog.
Thanks. We must be alike. I do like taking photos. It’s just that I would rather take photos of mountains and other people. | | Posted Jul 1, 2008 1:47 pm |

Voted 10/10 | Pissst - Mountaingazelle? Does an electrical
storm affect the composition and coloration of
rocks - within the 'impact area' where the lightning is known to strike?
I know it was awhile ago, but please think back when you first climbed in the Tetons of
Wyoming and Mt. Theilsen in Oregon. Did you
take a look at the coloration and structure
of the rocks at or near the summit. Did they
have a glassy coating on them, as if they
had been altered by a lightning strike???
Just curious - hope you are well. Take care!!

Hasn't voted | I guess it depends on the mountain. The summit of Mount Thielsen is hit by lightning often so some of the rocks have melted into a mineraloid that is called lechatelierite. This is a variety of fulgurite that gives it a dark coating.
Afternoon thundershowers are common in the Tetons. The summit of Mount Owen has been weathered from storms. Several other summits look like they have also received lightning strikes. | | Posted Aug 21, 2008 5:56 am |

Voted 10/10 | Thank you, Melinda! I'm (of course) not an
authority on geology or meteorology, but I
knew there was a ligitiment connection between mountains, weather and rocks. Take care !! (You have an unending knowledge of
mountains, and that's really awesome!) -LARRY
(Gotta LOVE the word lechatelierite!)
If it's not SOMETHING edible, then I have BIG
problem spelling it! : ))) !!!
