This is one of the nicer stretches of road as you get nearer to the trailhead. The last couple of kilometres get very rough, rocky, and steep in sections. A high clearance vehicle is almost a necessity. I have heard of cars making it to the trailhead, but I don't consider this to be a desirable (or even feasable) choice. Several waterbars cross the road too.
