The final bit to the summit... [ Sizes: Orig | Med | Small | Thumb ]
The final bit to the summit...
The final bit to the summit of Boston from where I crested the ridge after climbing the East Face. Considering all the looseness on the face, the scramble along the crest was actually quite stable. The mountain has been described as a slag heap of iron ore. Certain friends of mine (more than one) have simply called it a "piece of shit." That's not too far from the truth. It certainly belies the character of all the other peaks in the Cascade Pass region. On the left is Mt. Formidable. Formidable would have been a better name for Boston. Or perhaps Avoidable, for that is how many Washington climbers treat it. July 29, 2000.
