European Cranberrybush Blooms [ Sizes: Orig | Med | Small | Thumb ]
European Cranberrybush Blooms
European Cranberrybush (Viburnum opulus) is also sometimes called Guelder-rose. It grows in Polish mountains up to the elevation of 1000 meters in damp forests and meadows. It blooms from May to July. All flowers are white and each has five petals. The flowers are pollinated by insects. Fruits ripen up by August and are bright red. The fruits are edible in small quantities, with a very acidic taste. They are however very mildly toxic, and may cause vomiting or diarrhea if eaten in large amounts.

MOCKBAAhh, the kalina liquor :)

Voted 10/10

There are some "highbush cranberries", as they are called in the US, used for landscaping at a local ski resort I shall not name. If I get there in time to snatch the berries, it makes for a flask of an astonishing homemade berry brandy :P
