Alpine aster from the Blacktail Creek Trail, Yellowstone NP. This trail had a lot of different wildflowers in June 2008, as you move from open sage country at the start into the wetter creek drainage. Even in the drainage, dry exposed slopes on the west of the trail had a different mix than the trail and regions to the east. Changes in moisture and exposure were great for variety.
