Seen from Hyalite Basin not far from and above Hyalite Lake. The Class 1 trail, which was buried when I took this photograph, actually climbs between Hyalite Peak and the lower butte pictured to its right. Under these conditions, however, it is easier to grab the axe and head straight for the saddle to which the trail rises before finishing its route up the western ridge to the summit.
