This group was kind enough to pose for us as we closed to within ten miles of Hans Flat. We also saw a few proghorn antelope but not much else in this water scarce area. The Henry Mountains are in the background.

Voted 10/10 | A person usually has to go to the Aquarius
Plateau (far to the west) to find pines and water.
Can you imagine what early Utah colonists were up against in this severe climate of extremes? Even when they DID find water in the Fremont or Green River valleys, uncontrollable flooding wiped out in hours the results of years of toil.
I wonder where these guys are finding water
at? Looks like they enjoyed your camera! | | Posted Jul 28, 2008 8:13 pm |

Hasn't voted | Thanks Larry for your remarks as scenes like this do make you realize how difficult life must have been with water such a scarce commodity. These guys were lucky however as just out of the picture there was a watering trough. They are smarter than they look. | | Posted Jul 28, 2008 9:00 pm |
