Oupost Route [ Sizes: Orig | Large | Med | Small | Thumb ]
Oupost Route
This is the standard glacier route up Outpost Peaks.

Gaining the ramp (R) is straightforward and bypasses the cliff band. Can be very slippery when wet.

The middle ice tongue (T) is the rux of the trip. This can of course vary in condition, but expect 1 short pitch of grade II ice climbing - which will require a rappel on the way down.

The NE peak of Outpost is commonly called Outpost, while the taller SW Peak is called Memorial.

An alternate descent if glacier snow is sketchy is to descend down the ridge from SW Peak down and west to the Fraser Glacier valley (no longer glacier, just moraine rubble)

"Got tight last night on absinthe and did knife tricks. Great success shooting the knife into the piano. The woodworms are so bad and eat hell out of all furniture that you can always claim the woodworms did it."   --Ernest Hemingway
