Pacaya's volcanoe is a wonderful place to see lava fluid safety. Easy to climb, expectaculars views and very close to Guatemala city.

That must have been great to be able to do that! How quickly was the lava moving? Did it feel very hot where you were standing?

that day lava moving very slow, aprox 4 mts per hour. Very VERY HOT, I was closer just 2 or 3 seconds, impossible more without equipment.

Strangely enough I happened to be doing this at Pacaya about 3 months after I wrote my first comment there, wasn't expecting to be going to Guatemala at the time. And indeed the lava was super hot, my colleague's phone that I was carrying in my pocket actually stopped working as a result of hanging out so close. Ah well, it was worth it!!
