Mountain Mahogany on Tolcats Trail [ Sizes: Orig | Large | Med | Small | Thumb ]
Mountain Mahogany on Tolcats Trail
Alderleaf Mountain Mahogany (Cercocarpus montanus) is an early bloomer, and by late spring its branches are already adorned with whimsical feathery seed-styles, ready to fly away and descend, corkscrew-style, into the soil.

In this sunset picture with a distant Antelope Island, the fuzz of the seed-styles glows in the last rays of the day. 6/11/2008 9:10 pm.

I looked at the map and I was remembering the mountain as further north. Should have looked before posting. Sorry, not very familiar with your beautiful range.
